Imagine a new world

smallworldImagination is the faculty through which we encounter everything. Things that we touch, see and hear converge into a “picture” via our imagination. Imagination helps provide meaning to experience and understanding to knowledge; it is a fundamental facility through which we make sense of the world. Imagine a new world photo competition

2010 combating poverty

euro-year-2010

The European Union (EU) and its member states are strongly committed to the fight against poverty and social exclusion.

The EU Commission has designated 2010 as the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion. This reaffirms and strengthens the commitment for the EU, set out in the Lisbon Strategy, to make “a decisive impact on the eradication of poverty”.

City-dressing

street%20artAfter JAM youth exchange, granted by Anna Lindh Foundation and hosted by Link in August 2009, we are very proud to announce the follow-up of this project which will consist in a group EVS project. Now we are looking for partners in order to submit a project to the deadline of the 1st of November 2009 to our National Agency. The project will be implemented in Italy (Altamura – Matera) from the 12th to the 26th of June 2010.

JAM – Jeunesse Artistique de la Meditèrranèe, is a project which intends to promote youth participation and creativity by using different forms of art. Our idea is a long-term process and aims to establish a sustainable network of youth organizations in Europe and Mediterranean area using arts as a tool to promote intercultural dialogue and solidarity. The first edition of JAM was based on music and painting and the main theme was peace. With this new project we want to raise awareness on the topic of poverty in occasion of the European Year to combat social exclusion and poverty. The EVS project The EVS project plans to host 20 volunteers from 16 different countries. As a follow-up we would like to focus this time on a different issues, spreading information about the european year 2010. The tools we want to use are still related to arts, but this time we want to focus on sculpure and different kind of installations made by recycled materials. The topic of the project is city-dressing and street-art: we want to invite volunteers and local youth to create installations in town to inform citizens about the chosen issue. The project will be hosted at Masseria Zagarella, a few kilometers far from Matera and the activities will be run in Matera and Altamura. The hosting organization will provide meals and local transportation. If you are interested, please send the CV of your volunteer by the 20th of October. We need concrete volunteers in order to include your organization as a partner. We will not consider sending organization not having already a selected volunteer, because we are not able to apply without names. Contacts: mino@linkyouth.org

Jam after Jam

musicAfter a discussion with the members of Link and the partner organizations, we finally took the decision to go on with the idea of Jam. Now we are preparing an application form to be submitted to the European Youth Foundation in order to have a new exchange in October 2010 in Algeria (Beni Abbess) which will be hosted by ADESF. This time we have already started to enlarge the network by including partners from France and Albania. So, let’s cross fingers and hope to meet again next year!
